Novlette Rennie OBE

Honorary Doctorate - 2007

Novlette Rennie is the Chief Executive of Sporting Equals and has been with the organisation since its foundation in October 1998. She was awarded an OBE for services to diversity in sport in the 2007 Queen's New Year's Honours list and has recently been appointed to the UK Youth Board and the Board of Legacy Trust UK.

In November 2002, as a result of work initiated by Novlette, Sporting Equals was a Gold Standard winner at the British Diversity Awards. In 2005 Novlette was nominated for Woman of the Year at the GG2 Leadership and Diversity Awards. In August 2006, she won the Physical Activity and Sports Category at the first ever Council of Black Led Churches (CBLC) Black Achievement Showcase Awards.

Prior to joining Sporting Equals, Novlette spent 13 years working for Sheffield City Council in the areas of leisure and recreation, action sports, education, supporting the Youth Opportunities Training Scheme and social services.

A professionally qualified trainer, Novlette has also been a consultant for the Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work (CCETSW).
