Professor Diana Green retired as Vice-Chancellor of Sheffield Hallam University this year after nine years in the post.
During her time at the University, student numbers increased by over 5,000, more academic staff were recruited than ever before and a major building programme was started that places the university more centrally in the city.
Diana gave an incredible amount of weight to research and its real world impact. Since 1992 research generated income increased by over 500 per cent to £18m in 2006/07. Diana also developed links with local industry establishing the University as one of the country's leading business-based universities.
She is proud of her achievements at widening participation in education and has opened up doors for non-traditional students such as mature students, people who want to study part-time and others who want to continue to develop professionally.
Diana is also a high-flyer in her personal life as an experienced and fully-qualified pilot.
