Professor Holman is one of the UK’s most widely respected science educators, with a major hand in many of the most influential curriculum development schemes of the past 25 years.
He taught chemistry in a number of secondary schools and has written numerous science books for schools.
In 1994 he became Head of Watford Grammar School for Boys, then in 2000 became Salters Professor of Chemical Education and Director of the Science Curriculum Centre at the University of York.
Here he teaches chemistry at undergraduate level and has directed a number of innovative curriculum development initiatives including Twentyfirstcentury Science.In 2004 he became Director of the National Science Learning Centre in York which is dedicated to the professional development of science teachers.
Since 2006 he has acted as the government’s National STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Director.
