Sir Derek Jacobi

Sir Derek Jacobi is one of Britain's best-known actors who has earned international recognition on both stage and screen. He has four decades of performing arts success under his belt and has won many awards, both here and in America.
Along with Sir Laurence Olivier he is the only actor to have received both the Danish and British Knighthood.
Sir Derek's most famous credits include roles in award-winning films Gladiator and Gosforth Park and leading roles in the television dramas I, Claudius and Cadfael.
On the stage, Sir Derek has appeared in two productions at Sheffield's Crucible Theatre. The Tempest and Don Carlos, as well as various touring productions at the city's Lyceum.
Born in East London, he studied at Cambridge on a three year scholarship, where his younger classmates included Sir Ian McKellen and Trevor Nunn.
