Summary

I am a registered nurse with advanced practice background in Urgent and Emergency care. I have experience of working both in and out of hospital.

My current role is the course lead for Paramedic Science and post registration Paramedic study. I also support the teaching of the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice and Non-Medical Prescribing. I hold an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice and PGC in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and I am also a fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

My passions include a special interest in developing Technology Enhanced Learning within the college.

    Having originally served an apprenticeship as an electrician and working in telecommunications I trained as a registered nurse working in Emergency care. After several years working in A&E developing my skills in advanced practice initially in A&E and later in the pre-hospital environment.

    I have worked in several Emergency Departments around the UK as well as working for the Ambulance Service as an Emergency Care Practitioner. In 2007 I moved into an education role within a local Ambulance Service until moving to Canada in 2010. In 2010/11 I worked with the British Columbia Ambulance Service whilst living in Vancouver on a year's sabbatical.

    Design & Implementation of electronic Clinical Assessment Portfolio (e-CAP) to replace paper based system. Including the development of offline templates to facilitate working in remote locations.
    Utilisation of PebblePad workbooks to replace paper records during OSCE’s. Also using Pebblepocket to video OSCE’s & provide Feedback.
    Writing group for MSc Advanced Clinical Practice.
    Development of new BSc (hons) Paramedic Practice
    InSpiRED Project – Injury Specific Records in the Emergency Department.

    Practitioner Reference book: Practitioner Reference book was a development on a very simple handbook for ECP’s being used in Coventry & Warwickshire Ambulance service.
    Clinical Decision Support Book: Following the success of the Practitioner Reference Book I produced a Treatment & Referral guide for practitioners.
