Andrew Sneddon MA
Senior Lecturer in Contemporary Fine Art and course leader for BA (Hons) Creative Art Practices
I teach across different levels, from first year to post-graduate and from practical drawing classes and printmaking workshops to delivering lectures and running crit groups. I am particularly interested in exploring display opportunities with students that challenge and extend conventions of exhibiting.
My practice is concerned with exploring our complex relations with place and how place influences the decision-making process of the artist. My work is multi-disciplinary, ranging from printmaking through sculpture to video and installation. Recent projects include: The slender margin between the real and the unreal, co-authored with Gavin Morrison and Kiyoshi Okutsu, (London: Artwords, 2007), Host, with Alec Finlay, in 2008, and Host, with Jeremy Millar, in 2009. I studied at the British School in Rome and hold an MA in Fine Art from Glasgow School of Art. I have exhibited nationally and internationally, and am currently engaged in a practice-led PhD at Edinburgh College of Art.
