Simon is Head of Student and Graduate Employability, leading and managing the Career and Employability Service, within Business Engagement Skills and Employability (BESE).

About

This role involves supporting the University's employability promise to provide students and graduates with outstanding career preparation, development, employment opportunities and enterprise services. This empowers students and graduates, equipping them with the career management and employability skills to create their own future success in a diverse and global economy.

Simon is passionate about student development and progression, and unlocking the potential of all students.

Simon’s areas of interest are

  • graduate recruitment practices and psychometrics
  • social mobility
  • career planning and development

Prior to training as an adult guidance practitioner, Simon worked in the private sector for a specialist vocational rehabilitation consultancy, initially as a researcher and then with lead responsibility for occupational/psychometric testing.

Simon’s career in the higher education sector began at the University of Derby as a Senior Careers Adviser before joining Sheffield Hallam in 2012 as Head of Employer Engagement, becoming Head of Careers and Employability in 2015.
