Mr. David Philpott
Senior Lecturer (Track Engineering)
Summary
I have a lifetime of experience in Railway Infrastructure Engineering, primarily Track and Civil Engineering but with knowledge of all other disciplines, inter-disciplinary matters and Systems engineering. I have gained this from experience at all levels in the Industry from Student Engineer to Engineering Director. This has covered all aspects of design, maintenance, renewals and projects in the Nationalised industry, Infrastructure Manager (Client) and Contractor organisations for Track and Civils. It has also been integral to vehicle/ structure gauging and wheel rail interface/ track platform interface. I have been a guest lecturer at SHU from around 2002, becoming an Associate Lecturer about 7 years ago. I was appointed to permanent staff as a Senior Lecturer in Track Engineering on the 1st February 2017.
