I am a filmmaker, writer and academic working across a number of forms including documentary film, fiction and memoir. My work explores memory and identity and its role in shaping political and philosophical beliefs.
Projects include The Fence, Ogmore ’74, Echoes of Protest, Me and My Hair, Being Here Now, Teenland and Knitting A Love Song (BAFTA-nominated).

I am a filmmaker, writer and academic working across a number of forms including documentary film, fiction and memoir. My work explores memory and identity and its role in shaping political and philosophical beliefs. My work has been broadcast in Europe, Canada and the US, and exhibited internationally including BFI London Film Festival, Burning Man, Cannes, Clermont Ferrand, Cork Film Festival, Encounters Festival, Foyle Film Festival and the ICA. Commissioners include the BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Screen Yorkshire and the UK Film Council. I am currently studying an MA in Creative Writing at Sheffield Hallam University.

Current research projects
Echoes of Protest
ADRC-funded collaborative multidisciplinary research project with Esther Johnson investigating the legacy of being involved in significant protest movements from a child’s perspective. The first element of this project is an exhibition entitled 'A share of a pensioners Christmas Bonus’ being held at the People’s History Museum Manchester, December 6th 2015 – January 18th 2016, and the National Coal Mining Museum for England, Wakefield, November 12th 16 – January 18th 17
MA Writing
Part time Masters in Creative Writing at Hallam. Projects in progress include a novel and an interactive memoir.
