Summary
I am a Principal Lecturer and the Subject Group Leader for the Finance, Banking and Economics subject group. This involves portfolio and programme management, work planning, and line management of staff. I was part of the Sheffield Business School's PRT visit where we successfully achieved the AACSB accreditation. Prior to this I have worked for HSBC Bank and First Direct Bank. I have a PhD in Finance, a Masters in Banking and Finance and a PGCert in Learning and Teaching in Higher. I teach on a range of Finance modules, supervise doctoral students and dissertations. My research interests are in the field of Fintech, Corporate Governance, Banking and Distressed investments.
About
I am a Principal Lecturer in Banking, Investment and Financial Management in the Finance, Accounting and Business Systems department at Sheffield Hallam University. I am currently the Subject Group Leader for the Finance and Banking subject group which includes 18 members of full-time academic staff and 10 members of associate lecturer staff. This involves portfolio and programme management, work planning, and line management of staff. I was part of the Sheffield Business School's PRT visit where we successfully achieved the AACSB accreditation.
Prior to this I have worked for HSBC Bank and First Direct Bank. I have a PhD in Finance, a Masters in Banking and Finance and a PGCert in Learning and Teaching in Higher. I hold a certificate in Fintech revolution from Wharton Executive Education, University of Pennsylvania. I teach on a range of Finance modules, supervise doctoral students and dissertations focusing on Fintech, Blockchain and cryptocurrency, Financial Risk Management, Ethics and Investment Professionalism, Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance, Islamic and Investment Banking, Risk Management and Strategic Management. I am a people person with first-hand experience of banking and finance.
My research interests are in the field of Fintech, Corporate Governance, Banking, Regulation, Distressed Investments, Corporate Insolvency and Fund Management. In my current role I line manage staff within the subject group, providing academic and subject leadership, direction and focus. I have been actively developing and department's portfolio in Financial Trading, Financial Technology, Financial Services, Investment, Banking and Economics. My role involves ensuring the effective deployment and development of the subject group as a team, optimising the use of the diverse skills of team members.
