Summary
I am the Head of Operations within the Centre of Excellence in Terrorism, Resilience, Intelligence and Organised Crime Research (CENTRIC). I currently work across a number of CENTRIC's projects providing guidance and leardership as well as supporting activities and external engagements of the centre with the security community. Prior to working at CENTRIC, I completed my PhD at Northumbria University in graph and network visualisation. My main research interests lie in data analysis and visualisation.
About
I am the Head of Operations within the Centre of Excellence in Terrorism, Resilience, Intelligence and Organised Crime Research (CENTRIC). I joined CENTRIC in 2014 as a Researcher on the FP7 Athena project on crisis communications and subsequently the Unity project on community policing. I then went on to hold the position of Lecturer (in the department of Computing), Senior Research Fellow, and Principle Research Fellow in CENTRIC before taking up my current position.
I am currently contributing to a number of security-related projects that seek to understand how technology can be applied to different areas of security including combatting crime and terrorism, cybersecurity, and border security. I also contribute to CENTRIC's research and applied solutions for open-source intelligence for law enforcement agencies. As Head of Operations, I coordinate several aspects of CENTRIC's activity related to income generation, knowledge transfer, project management and delivery and external engagement with the security sector in the UK and in Europe.
My main research interests lie in data analysis and visualisation and I completed my PhD at Northumbria University in graph and network visualisation exploring how different properties of the information in a network can be used to create meaningful and useful layouts to improve the understanding of the relationships within the network. Before undertaking a PhD, I also completed a Masters in Computing at Northumbria and BSc in Mathematics at Edinburgh University.
