Summary

I have many experience as a journalist at national and regional level, which informs my teaching. In my role as Employability Lead I promote the skills which help students to achieve success in their chosen career path.

About

I started my career in weekly papers before moving on to daily papers. I have worked as a freelance for many years writing for regional and national papers, magazines, and websites. I have also worked in PR.

I have taught Journalism for 12 years, and I am a module leader for several practical and academic modules at BA and MA level. I am also an academic adviser and a placement adviser and I have been an MA course leader. My role as Employability Lead for Media Arts and Communication includes promoting sandwich year placements, organising industry events and helping to embed employability skills and applied learning at every level.

Research

I am a PhD candidate conducting interdisciplinary research into the meaning of 'news'. I have presented papers at national and international conferences about fake news.
