Summary
Janet graduated in PE and enjoyed a teaching career in a Sheffield secondary school. As a National level rower and sculler, Janet's interest in performance fuelled study at Sheffield University MMedSci in Sport and Exercise Science. Following this she spent a year as a freelance sport coach and Pyrenean mountain bike guide.
Janet is now a senior lecturer in Sport Coaching and PE and has become a key part of the team working on the emerging coach education degree routes. She has a variety of coaching and instructor awards in outdoor activities, rowing, weight lifting, cycling and school sports.
Janet actively supports the Sheffield Hallam high performance programme and is a performance lifestyle and UK Sport accredited anti doping advisor for talented athletes (TASS) . She is involved teaching team outdoor education, PEYS Coniston Camp.

About
Outside of her academic work Janet is head coach for Sheffield Hallam University Rowing Club. She has coached City of Sheffield Rowing, Upper Thames, UoS and SHU Rowing Club members to Henley and National Championship success. Janet directed the Sheffield Indoor Rowing Championships and has maintained her performance as a master rower and keen cyclist.
Adventures have included LEJoG, C2C Pyrenees, Mt Kilimanjaro, Finland church boat marathon. Janet's philosophy is to coach holistically, using a variety of specialist and cross training activities to build complete performers, who are independent learners capable of enjoying lifelong participation.
