Karen is a registered Operating Department Practitioner qualifying in 1987. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She has a BSc Degree in Combined Health Studies PG Certificate in Education and is currently studying towards a MA in Learning Teaching.
Karen has worked in several NHS trusts and private institutions and she continues to practice as an ODP. Her extensive work experience is involved in the education of the multi-disciplinary workforce within critical care and she has also worked as a Lecturer/ Practitioner at Leeds University.
Karen joined Sheffield Hallam in 2005 as a full time lecturer within the Operating Department Practice (ODP).
She has responsibility of assessment lead module leadership within ODP for undergraduate students with an interest in anaesthetics recovery, and provide teaching provision across all the modules in the undergraduate ODP course.
Her clinical interests are anaesthesia as a science pain management, preoperative assessment and preparation and recovery.
