Lynsey Hunter

Lecturer in Primary Education

Summary

Following twenty years in primary education as a teacher, headteacher, LA Advisor and Ofsted Inspector, I am now part of the Primary Teacher Education Team at SHU, working across the PGCE, BA and BATL routes and the SENCO Award.

Teaching

My area is Primary Education with my specialisms being Professional Practice, English and Inclusion.

Research

My current research area of interest is the teacher identity of previously reluctant writers and the impact of negative experiences as a writing pupil on being a writing teacher.

I am also considering how literacy practices can support the mental health of teachers and pupils in the primary classroom.

My Masters research looked at the perceptions of trainee teachers on the PGCE route about their readiness to support children’s mental health in the primary classroom.
