About
I came into academia in 2006 following a 25-year career in industry, latterly working at Operations Director level within the distribution industry where I qualified in national and international road transport and was an O licence holder.
I gained a first-class honours degree at Sheffield Hallam, where I also qualified in teaching at Higher Education level, and now I am a fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
I started with the university as an Associate Lecturer in 2006 and became a permanent member of staff in January 2007. I progressed from Senior Lecturer to Principal lecturer in September 2009. I was appointed as Admissions tutor in 2007 and became a Group Leader and Markets and Recruitment Lead for the Department in 2009, exceeding targets in each year in that role. Since 2018 I have been the Departmental Lead coordinating with the Universities central Space Resource and Timetabling team.
I was awarded Inspirational Teacher of the year in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and have won a College award in each year from 2011-2016. In 2014 I was a finalist in the national OUP Law Teacher of the Year Awards.
