Associate Dean Global and Academic Partners

Summary

As Associate Dean for Global and Academic Partnerships in the College of Health Wellbeing and Lifesciences I provide strategic leadership for the College's international recruitment, TNE provision, global educational partnerships and student mobility. I am an experienced academic with extensive leadership and management experience working with professional bodies, academic institutions and awarding bodies across the world.

My professional background is surveying and construction management with specialism in the carbon and energy assessment of buildings and have provided advice and consultancy services for a range of public and private organisations.

About

I am responsible for the strategic leadership of global engagement and academic partnerships for the college to support and enable our ambition to be the world's leading applied university. My role is to provide a coherent and integrated approach within the college to international recruitment, improving the global dimension of the student and staff experience and to the strategic development of academic partnerships and global relations, both in the UK and internationally, in support of the University's strategic aims and operational priorities.

My four main workstreams are:

  • International recruitment to both awards physically delivered at the university and also online to students across the globe.
  • Transnational education programmes delivered in partnership with a range of partners to provide educational opportunities for those who cannot travel to the UK.
  • Educational Partnerships which include many UK based Further Education Colleges and Private Education providers as well as international organisations.
  • Student mobility for our students to engage in international educational experiences, this includes physical mobility along with virtual mobility projects.

I am committed to collaborative working and therefore engage with many colleagues across the university and with partners, not only from within the Sheffield City Region but also all continents, to create and manage mutually beneficial partnerships that provide our students with life changing opportunities. Although I have almost 30 years’ experience in Higher Education I have also run two private companies and provided consultancy services for a wide range of clients.
