Norman Watts BSc (Hons) PGCertEd, PGDip, FHEA

Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for MSc Construction Project Management

Following 18 years in construction industry I joined the academic team here at Sheffield Hallam University in 2000.  My roles have included both undergraduate and post graduate course leadership positions across a number of disciplines including, BSc(Hons) Construction Engineering, BSc (Hons) Building Engineering, MSc Project Management, Exec MBA in the Built Environment, MSc Construction Project Management

I have been our department's International course lead on BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying & Construction Management, South East Asia and Middle East provision.

Also, held the post of International Student Development Co-ordinator helping to bridge the 'access to information gap' that some of our international cohorts often encounter.

As our MSc Construction Project Management course leader I am responsible for the applications, smooth operations of the course and the student experience. Leadership role also includes liaising with industrial employers and attending public open days, meeting potential new candidates and their families.

As a module leader and tutor, I specialise in the teaching of principles and practice of project management.

I teach management principles and project planning across both our undergraduate and post graduate provision.  Additionally, I teach 'reflective practice' and work based learning modules, this is particular enjoyable and relevant to our students who once graduated will become professional practitioners in their chosen field.
