Dr Richard Dachtler MBChB, RCGP

Senior Lecturer in Advancing Practice, General Practitioner

I currently teach on a number of advancing practice modules in the College of Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences, including Advanced Physical Assessment and Consultation Skills (APACS), The Minor Illness module and on the Physican Assoicate course. As of this year, I am now Joint module lead for the Minor Illness module of the ACP MSc.

I graduated from Sheffield Medical School in 2009 and have worked in the area since.  I became a fully qualified GP in 2014 and have been working full-time as such since then, in both Barnsley and the Sheffield area.  Since graduation I have been involved with education in a variety of ways, through medical and nursing student placement supervision, GP training and now in the more formal capacity as Senior Lecturer for Advancing Practice.

As a GP I am skilled in a diverse array of consultation, examination and clinical skills.  I am able to teach across a multitude of topics including minor illness, general medicine, patient assessment and management.  This vast clinical experience helps me to develop and train students in both clinical and consultation skills.
