Sarah Flower RM, BA(hons), BSc(hons), PgCHPE, FHEA
Lecturer in Midwifery
I am relatively new to teaching and maintain my practice as an Independent Midwife alongside my teaching role.
I have been an Independent Midwife for the last seven years, providing caseloading midwifery care predominantly to people with complexities through their pregnancy, birth and early mothering.
I have worked both in and out of the NHS since qualifying in a variety of hospital and community settings including working for One to One Midwives providing caseloading midwifery care to women via the NHS.
The majority of my experience lies in homebirth and community based care though I was part of the Airedale NHS Trust and Independent Midwives partnership between 2017 and 2020 working on labour ward and in the community as well as providing training and support for the wider team.
I am NIPE trained and in my role as an IM provide 6-8 weeks of postnatal care so I have a good deal of experience supporting women postnatally and with breastfeeding.
My passions are for providing truly individualised care and supporting people to make the decisions that are right for them.
I have a particular interest in Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy and ensuring women are supported with honest up to date information.
