Stuart Pybus

Lecturer in Policing

Summary

Previously a police officer and having delivered training in various formats since 1975, I now utilise my police experience with my educational qualifications (gained at Sheffield Hallam University) to deliver courses supporting prospective and newly appointed police officers in gaining their undergraduate degree/ apprenticeship degree/post degree qualifications.

About

After working in the retail industry for a few years, I joined the police service and served with Lincolnshire Police, South Yorkshire Police and The Bermuda Police Service. In Bermuda I ran computer training when the force computerised in 1987 and this eventually led to me working for a company in the USA delivering training in computer use to police services in the USA and various forces in the Caribbean region.

I have run my own training company - specialising in I.T., Customer Service and Communication Skills and Business Improvement Techniques (LEAN processing).Prior to joining Sheffield Hallam University, I worked with South Yorkshire Police in Quality Assurance, assessing evidence to support a variety of qualifications and worked as part of the team on the Police Education Qualifications Framework.

My qualifications are in education and in using technology to enhance education and I now have my ideal job - combining my previous experience with my teaching qualifications to provide lectures and seminars supporting police officers to gain their degree (and post degree qualifications) .
