Dr Susie Crawford BA (Hons), MSc, PhD

Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Science, Biomechanics

Summary

Susie is a lecturer in Biomechanics, she teaches on the Sport and Exercise Science course in the department of Sport and Physical Activity. Susie completed her PhD at Manchester Metropolitan University: Cheshire, her main focus of research has been bone mineral density in relation to loading, in particular through exercise and in relation to craniofacial injury in sport. In conjunction with this, Susie researches in the area of muscle activity, using surface electromyography, and its relation to BMD in maintaining bone health.

  • About

Susie holds a degree and MSc in Biomechanics from MMU Cheshire, where she then took up a role as associate lecturer in biomechanics before embarking on a three year full time PhD. Susie completed her PhD, where her main focus of research was bone mineral density in relation to loading, in particular through exercise and in relation to craniofacial injury in sport. In conjunction with this, Susie researched in the area of muscle activity, using surface electromyography, and its relation to BMD in maintaining bone health.

Susie is now a lecturer in Biomechanics, and teaches across the Sport and Exercise Science course, in the department of Sport and Physical Activity. Her research interests have moved more towards the area of surface electromyography at present, but she is looking to expand on her previous work in BMD.
