Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing

I am a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing specialising in End of Life Care here at Sheffield Hallam University. I have worked in many different clinical settings and throughout my career had a passion for palliative and end of life care.

I trained as a Nurse in Leeds and have professional registrations with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a Registered General Nurse and Registered Nurse Teacher. I completed a Master In Health care Studies in 2012 followed by a Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Education in 2013. I am involved in a number of nursing module teams and interprofessional education; teaching a wide variety of topics connected to nursing, health and social care. I lead on the development and delivery of palliative and end of life care education to undergraduate nursing students along with modules with post graduate nursing students. I am part of a link lecturer team covering the Barnsley area; working in partnership with learners in practice, clinical practice colleagues and university placement leads. In 2011 I founded and continue to chair the Yorkshire and Humber End of Life Care facilitators forum which disseminates local and national education, research, strategic and service developments in relation to the end of life care. Since January 2020 I have been a steering group member of the RCN pain and palliative care forum. The forum and this role involve acting as the voice of nursing in palliative and end of life care and leading the development of knowledge in this specialist area.
