Green Gown Awards Winners 2018

The University's achievements have continued to grow this year as demonstrated by our recent Green Gown Awards win. Sheffield Hallam University has won a Green Gown Award in the 'Campus Health Food and Drink' category, which commemorates the success of the 'Taste Hallam Brand'. Introduced in December 2017, Taste Hallam is a brand campaign that keeps both staff and students up to date with the University catering offer.

Taste Hallam has been recognised for implementing a wide variety of sustainable initiatives throughout the year including the coffee cup recycling pods, "I am Local" products and redistributing left over food through key partnerships with the Salvation Army and Real Junk Food Project. Darren Procter (Executive Chef) has also been highly commended in the 'Sustainability Champion (Staff)' category and has been the driving force of the University's sustainable catering offer. Additional sustainable food initiatives Darren has supported include introducing nine in-house vegan salad options, providing cooking demonstrations at 'Eat Well' social events, working with food waste charity the 'Real Junk Food Project' and supporting 'Love your Leftovers', a food waste enterprise set up by some of our students
