Hallam wins at Food Made Good Awards 2017

Sheffield Hallam University has won the Value Natural Resources Award at the Sustainable Restaurant Association’s Food Made Good Awards 2017.

The annual ceremony recognises industry leading restaurants and food services businesses who demonstrate that delicious food can be made sustainably and ethically.

Our Granary Café, located in the Heart of the Campus building at Collegiate, has a reduced environmental impact through using power generated by solar panels, heat drawn from a ground source pump and water collected from a rainwater harvesting system. The sustainable building provides the perfect location for the café which sources food from local suppliers including Our Cow Molly, and has already been awarded the maximum 3 stars from the Sustainable Restaurant Association.

We were also runners up to Pizza Hut Restaurants in the Treat Staff Fairly category, who won in recognition of their provision of a degree level apprenticeship scheme for their employees and a company-wide emotional training programme.
