New Year, New Recycling Campaign
Tuesday 05 January 2016
The University has been working closely with our new waste contractors, Veolia, to improve how we recycle on site. Through this partnership Sheffield Hallam is now a zero waste to landfill university; all of our non-recyclable waste is incinerated and provides heat for our buildings.
The way we recycle at the University has also changed. Now only the following four items can be put into the recycling bins, to create purer recyclable streams. These are;
- paper (not including paper cups)
- clean plastic bottles
- clean tins and cans
These changes are being communicated through a re-launch of our University-wide 'Do the Right Thing' campaign. Activity includes our 'recycling roadshow', which visits campuses to promote the changes to staff and students through the 'recycling challenge, updating all bin labels across the University and communications via posters, plasma screens and articles via the University's internal communications network.
For full details about the campaign and information about recycling see the Waste and Recycling page.
