University staff choose sustainable travel
Thursday 02 June 2016
In January the sustainability team launched a survey to find out how members of staff travel to work. Its aim was to establish a baseline figure of emissions resulting from commuting, so that targets could be established to reduce this impact, and campaigns could be tailored to suit the current behaviours of our staff.
The results are now in and using the data provided from over 1000 respondents, we were thrilled to find out that 63% of staff choose to travel to work by low carbon methods such as walking, cycling and public transport rather than driving.
It is hoped that these positive results can be further improved upon, data will be fed into our Sustainability Framework to establish targets and a plan to enhance sustainable travel opportunities for staff, students and visitors.
