A message of solidarity to our Hallam alumni community
As the world around us is rapidly changing, our thoughts are with our Hallam alumni community around the world and we wish you, your loved ones, and communities good health.
In response to the Coronavirus pandemic and UK Government advice, on 16 March 2020 the University suspended face to face teaching with immediate effect and all staff are now working remotely where possible. We remain committed to transforming lives through education. Our staff are working to support our students by ensuring the University remains open albeit operating in a radically different way. The response so far is testament to the resilience and commitment of our Hallam community.
As an alum of Hallam, you are very much part of this community and we know you are all experiencing your own unique challenges both professionally and personally. At times like these, togetherness is so important. Our alumni will continue to play an important role in Hallam and we encourage you to keep in touch with us and with each other. Our personal and professional networks have never been as important as they are right now.
Like you, we are unsure of what the future holds but what we do know is the pride and passion for Hallam and the city of Sheffield is strong. Whilst we all enter this uncharted territory, we wanted to let you know that Sheffield Hallam is here for you.
Over the coming days, weeks and months, the ways in which you can engage with the University will change and that’s why we are focusing our interactions with our alumni through our digital alumni platform, the Hallam Collective.
The Hallam Collective is an online global network of Hallam alumni who are connecting with each other, offering up career advice and mentoring to new graduates and current students. It is also a platform with capabilities to build greater advocacy and support and encourage wellbeing through a shared connection to Hallam.
We will continue to update you on our news and stories of impact and of course we would like to hear from you: how do you want to see your alumni community come together during this time?
You can keep in touch with us via email at alumni@shu.ac.uk, update your details to receive our alumni newsletter and engage with us on our social media channels. Please keep in touch and make the most of your Hallam network.

Best wishes from all of us.
