Hong Kong alumni network launch event

Date: Monday 31 October 2011
Time: 12.00 AM to 12.00 AM
Venue: Eaton Hotel, Kowloon

In October 2011 we were delighted to invite alumni living and working in Hong Kong to an event hosted by Vice-Chancellor Professor Philip Jones to officially launch the Hong Kong alumni network.

The event was held at the Eaton Hotel in Kowloon and gave alumni the opportunity to find out more about the network, hear from some of the alumni already involved, and get involved themselves. Throughout the evening, graduates also had the chance to meet and network with a like-minded group of alumni, all proud of their link with Sheffield Hallam.

The aim of the network is to provide valuable professional and social networking opportunities and to help the University to continue to engage with alumni throughout their professional life.

The evening included a welcome speech from Philip Jones, an introduction to the network by Professor Paul Senior, head of community justice research at Sheffield Hallam University, and the announcement of the network committee members. Alumni were then asked to give feedback on how the network should develop and whether they would like to get involved.

Alumni also had the chance to meet Sheffield Hallam University staff over a cocktail reception, including

  • Professor Paul Senior
  • Dr Kevin Nield - head of department, leisure and food management
  • Rob Sykes - principal lecturer
  • Kate Morse - head of international development for Sheffield Business School
  • John Palmer - director of corporate communications)
  • Staff from UCity University
