Get Healthy with Hallam

Monday 14 January 2019

The New Year has arrived and many of us are making resolutions to be fitter, healthier and happier.

If you want to make a resolution that will create a lasting change this year, choose to run the Sheffield Half Marathon with us on Sunday 14 April.

2019 will mark the fourth year that Team Hallam has gathered together to raise money for the Hallam Fund and in previous years it is the University's staff who have taken part. This year we are inviting alumni, current students and staff to come together and join Team Hallam. Family and friends are welcome to get involved also!

By joining our team of fundraisers, you will be helping to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds, providing them with the security and recognition they need to make the most of what university can offer.

All Team Hallam runners will receive the following benefits:

Discounted race entry

By choosing to run with Team Hallam, your entry costs will be reduced to just £30 (£5 off registration price). You will also receive a free Team Hallam running top.

Fundraising hints and tips

In the lead up to the run, support and advice will be available to you on how to fundraise. Each runner will have an individual minimum target of £150 and our overall team target is £7,000. This means that you would need to encourage only 15 people to give you £10 each in order to achieve your minimum target, which we hope feels achievable.

Free gym membership

Hallam Active is offering alumni free gym membership from the 1st February 2019 until race day. This will give you access to City and Collegiate gym facilities, all fitness classes, City Athletic Stadium, physio and a chance to speak with senior fitness instructor, Nathan Brumley, who will help you develop a personalised training programme. By taking up this offer, you will also receive 2 hours of consultation and free support on training at the gym.

Training plan

To make sure that you stay on track, why not try following a training plan? Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced runner, Run for all have a training plan that will accommodate to all levels of ability. Please click here to find the plan that suits you most. You can also join the Team Hallam Strava group and see how you are doing on the group leader board during your training.
