Digital Assessment Centres

Wednesday 28 April 2021

What is an assessment centre?

An assessment centre is the main part of the recruitment and selection process, particularly for graduate employers. It is made up of different activities so that employers can see how you react in real workplace situations. It can sometimes feel a bit daunting, so practice is the best way to build your confidence.

Why should I attend a digital mock assessment centre?

  • Learn how to stand out to employers
  • Receive professional personalised feedback on what you did well and what you could do differently
  • Increase your confidence to secure roles

With many employers moving their recruitment processes online during the coronavirus pandemic, we have teamed up with Smart Resourcing Solutions (SRS) to provide you with an excellent opportunity to try an assessment centre yourself and get valuable individual professional feedback on all your activities for free. This feedback will identify your strengths and development areas to help improve your confidence, knowledge and aspirations moving forward.

Employers want candidates to be able to work in teams, show their communication skills and be able to reflect on their experiences, and this half-day activity can help you do this.

What activities will I be doing?

Our Digital Mock Assessment Centres are made up of three activities that are the most popular with employers to help you develop relevant experience. These include a small group work task, a case study where participants need to read information and make decisions, and a short interview. SRS have created a page dedicated to Sheffield Hallam students and alumni with top tips on how to prepare, what to expect on the day, login instructions, video tutorials and materials needed for the assessment centre itself. And, you don't even need to do much preparation! SRS will be in touch closer to your digital mock assessment centre date with further details.
