Employee Wellbeing for SMEs: The Untapped Potential of Your Workforce

Date: Tuesday 22 May 2018
Time: 11.30 AM to 02.30 PM
Venue: Kenwood Hall Hotel, Kenwood Road, Sheffield S7 1NQ

How can you improve productivity and therefore the profitability of your business? Is it possible to reduce absence and increase performance?

Poor productivity is seen as one of the biggest challenges facing the UK, with productivity currently at its lowest for over 20 years and falling behind many of our European counterparts.

Staff absence and presenteeism (working whilst ill) impacts a business’ productivity, income and performance. This negative impact can be felt harder in SMEs, as a smaller workforce magnifies the impact of poor performance or an unexpected absence on remaining staff. Wellbeing challenges in this sector are on the rise with the number of employees seeking mental health advice doubling over the last five years. SME's are also less likely to access occupational health services to support-related challenges.

This event, run by the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre, will provide insight into what wellbeing actually means and why improving employee wellbeing can help your business to flourish. In addition, during lunch you will be given the opportunity to share examples of good practice with likeminded colleagues and discuss current wellbeing challenges and how you can overcome barriers to their implementation within your business.

We will also explore the tools you need to ensure that your programme is both efficient and effective, by highlighting the importance of conducting an appropriate needs analysis and evaluation of your current practices.
