The Level 7 Architect Degree Apprenticeship has been developed by a trailblazer group of employers, higher education providers and meets the requirements defined by the Architects Registration Board (ARB) and Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).

The course is suitable for Architectural Assistants seeking Part 2, who have completed Part 1, and who are in employment in an architectural practice.

The Architect Degree Apprenticeship fosters graduates with critical thinking, maturity and advanced knowledge of architectural practice, socially responsible design and sustainable urbanism and architecture.

The course will deliver against the nationally recognised Level 7 Architect Degree Apprenticeship standard. It includes a combination of work-based learning, practical application and End Point Assessment, which leads to a MArch Architecture degree. Participants will be able to register as an architect on completion, having completed Part 2 and Part 3.

If you have 15 or more potential apprentices, we can tailor the programme to your business.

Course length and entry requirements

The apprenticeship is usually delivered over 48 months. However, every apprentice is different and it will depend on their previous experience.

Participants attend University on day release, to be taught alongside part-time and full-time students. The programme adopts a blended learning approach with modules delivered through a combination of lectures, class-based seminars, practical work and site visits.

Eligible candidates will meet the following entry requirements

  • Applicants require a BSc (Hons) degree at 2:2 level or above.
  • Applicants must be working in a relevant role and have appropriate employer support to undertake this course.
  • Applicants must meet a requirement for the minimum of an ARB-prescribed Part 1 qualification or Part 1 equivalent as prescribed by the ARB.
  • Apprentices without English and Maths at Level 2 on entry will need to achieve that level before taking their end-point assessment.
