A multidisciplinary approach is embedded in the course, providing a broad understanding of creative careers and fields, as well as a chance to explore different processes, techniques and media.
Throughout, you're encouraged to push the boundaries of what you already know through challenging design briefs.
You learn through:
- individual and group projects
- skills development and workshop

- lectures and seminars
- field trips
- Blackboard (VLE)
- self-directed study
There are field trips that take place throughout the course, providing you with insight into real-world creative roles and environments.
The course is based around familiarising yourself not only with the study areas on our art and design degrees, but with the Sheffield Hallam Institute of Arts in general. You'll meet students, staff and visiting lecturers throughout the programme, with ample opportunity for networking.
