Course summary

  • Prepare for undergraduate courses within the Department of Management, Service Sector and Finance, Accounting and Business Systems
  • Explore theory and practice as you learn about business contexts, including ethical and cultural aspects
  • Learn about academic writing, critical analysis, working in diverse teams and with a variety of data sources

This is an exciting and creative entry route if you do not meet the entry requirements for degree-level study or are returning to study. Successfully completing the extended degree enables you to progress on to the first year of one of our undergraduate degrees at Sheffield Business School.

How you learn

You receive face-to-face feedback regularly during your modules in order to prepare you for the completion of your assignments. This will be via tasks set for you to undertake in the module seminars or in your independent study time.

Applied learning

Live projects

The course culminates with you planning and managing an enterprise project which will pull together all of your learning. This provides a capstone to the year that supports you in demonstrating your readiness to progress to your chosen degree.

Entry requirements

All students

GCSE Maths at grade D or 3 and GCSE English at grade C or grade 4.

48 UCAS points, including 24 points from one full A level, or equivalent, or an alternative qualification such as an Access course.

Please note the University will only admit students who are aged 18 at the point of enrolment.

Fees and funding

Home/EU students

Our tuition fee for UK/EU students starting full-time undergraduate study in 2019/20 is £9,250 per year. During your placement year you will pay a reduced fee of £1,200.

† If you are studying an undergraduate course, postgraduate pre-registration course or postgraduate research course over more than one academic year then your tuition fees may increase in subsequent years in line with Government regulations or UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) published fees. International students
