In this course, you'll undertake specialist research into a robotics field of your choice. You'll benefit from cutting-edge facilities in the Centre for Automation and Robotics Research (CARR), as well as from the advice and tutelage of leading experts. You'll graduate with excellent credentials in a particularly relevant subject.
How you learn
As this is a research course, most of your work will be carried out independently. You will benefit from the support and expertise of your supervisory team; including a Director of Studies and a second supervisor who have specific interest in your chosen subject area. Common topics may include mechanics, electronics, sensing, computational intelligence, cognitive and developmental robotics and human-machine interaction technologies.

Fees and funding
Home students
Our tuition fee for UK postgraduate research students will be aligned to the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) fees which have not yet been confirmed for 2021/22. For an indication of the tuition fees, please view the 2020/21 course page.
† If you are studying an undergraduate course, postgraduate pre-registration course or postgraduate research course over more than one academic year then your tuition fees may increase in subsequent years in line with Government regulations or UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) published fees. International students
Our tuition fee for International/EU postgraduate research students starting part-time study in 2021/22 is £9,100 per year. There may be significant bench fees on some of our postgraduate research courses. This would be confirmed in an offer letter.

Up to £25,700 available to help you while you study a postgraduate doctoral course.
