Develop an expert knowledge of applied marketing concepts and gain practical experience in the workplace. You gain the skills and experience you need to develop an in-depth understanding of the principles and techniques of marketing and the ability to apply marketing knowledge to a range of business problems. Sheffield Hallam is one of the few universities in the country that has direct links with the CIM, allowing you access to their master classes.

How you learn
The approaches to learning and teaching on the Marketing course vary between modules. You will experience, and engage with a variety of learning and teaching methods on the course, which develops your knowledge, skills, and expertise.

Dr Giovanna Battiston is a Senior Lecturer In Marketing in the Department of Management at Sheffield Business School.
You will have the opportunity to arrange a year-long work placement in between your second and third years. This is typically 48 weeks long and gives you a real-world experience to prepare you for your future career. Due to our strong relationships with regional, national and international employers, we can help you to secure a great placement opportunity and support you while you are there. Previous students have gained placements at companies such as IBM, Adidas, Marks & Spencer and Disney.
In the second year of the course, you undertake a comprehensive set of activities focussed on employability, and in particular placements to support you in a year in industry. Work-related learning involves exercises that simulate the workplace and are run as part of modules on the course.
We are one of the few universities in the UK to have a student chapter linked to the CIM. This is a student learning community that complements and enhances your academic studies and allows you to link up with local professionals. Another way to prepare for your career is to make the most of your automatic membership of the Sheffield Hallam Student Marketing Society, which runs regular events with local and national employers.

The course is accredited by The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) for the purpose of gaining exemptions from units on CIM qualifications through the Graduate Gateway programme. Students have the opportunity to join The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) as a Studying Member.
Where will I study?
You study at City Campus

This must include at least 64 points from 2 A Levels or equivalent BTEC qualifications. For example:
- BBC at A Level
- DMM in BTEC Extended Diploma.
- A combination of qualifications, which may include AS levels, EPQ and general studies
- English language or literature at grade C or 4
- Maths at grade D or 3
• Access - an Access to HE Diploma with at least 45 credits at level 3 and 15 credits at level 2. At least 15 Level 3 credits must be at merit grade or above, from a QAA-recognised Access to HE course, or an equivalent Access to HE certificate.
If English is not your first language you need an IELTS score of 6.0 or above, with a minimum score of 5.5 in each skill.
Please note the University will only admit students who are aged 18 at the point of enrolment.

Fees and funding
Our tuition fee for UK/EU students starting full-time undergraduate study in 2020/21 is £9,250 per year. During your placement year you will pay a reduced fee of £1,200.
