How you learn
Your lecturer's view
All modules focus on elements of clinical practice, and we encourage you to apply your learning to the setting in which you work or wish to specialise. Assessments are designed to replicate challenges you may face within the workplace. You learn from enthusiastic tutors who are experienced physiotherapists.
You learn through
- online discussion with students and tutors
- online presentations and seminars
- interactive online learning tasks
- written assessments
If you join our distance learning route, all modules will be delivered online with no requirement to travel to Sheffield for any aspect of the course. If you prefer to have the option of studying some modules face-to-face, you can apply for our part-time route. Note that the part-time route is only available to students who can study in the UK without requiring a Tier 4 visa.
Course leaders and tutors
On the distance learning route, we expect that you will already be working in clinical practice and therefore, you will be supported to apply your learning within your clinical post.
Increased clinical skills and critical evaluation of practice lend themselves to clinical leadership roles. Upon graduation you will be able to work more independently, developing independent private practices or moving into advanced or extended scope roles. Some graduates pursue research or teaching careers in the UK or internationally, many going onto PhD study.
Students who join the course without HCPC registration may apply for this, to gain work experience in the UK during and after the course. Automatic registration is not guaranteed on completion of the course, however, the learning opportunities provided align to the HCPC standards.
