How we use track and trace data

Sheffield Hallam does not have access to NHS data. We only use track and trace data from our Hallam QR codes.

Following government guidelines, we will only keep the location information for 21 days. We will only use your personal data to contact you in case you have been in proximity with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19.

We will not share or use personal data with third parties. The data is only for internal Sheffield Hallam University use. QR codes will not be used to track individual attendance in class.

See our privacy notice for further details of how we use and process data under GDPR.

Covid Help and Response Team

If you have been in a location where someone has tested positive, a member of the Covid Help and Response Team (CHART) will be in touch. They’ll let you know if you need to self-isolate and ask if you need any additional support.

CHART will use the details you have provided on My Student Record (if you are a student) or the Core HR system (if you are a member of staff). To help the team contact you quickly, please ensure your details are up to date.

If you have tested positive for Covid-19, or you suspect you have Covid-19, please complete this short contact form and a member of CHART will contact you. Reporting is required to protect our community and to enable us to provide support. If you are a member of staff, you should also notify your line manager.

If you do not have a smart device and are unable to scan QR codes, CHART will use timetabling or other available data sources to identify the contacts of any positive cases on campus.
