Globally-enriched campus life

With students from over 100 countries studying on our culturally diverse campus, we don’t have to travel far to engage in transformational intercultural exchanges. International students and staff bring global experiences, news, ideas and an international perspective, which enhances the university experience for all.

Our GoGlobal projects and extracurricular activities help all students meet new people, experience different cultures and develop personal and professional skills – the GoGlobal campaign encompasses SHU Fest, Global Friends, ICE Club as well as our university-wide mentoring scheme Culture Connect.

We offer a range of projects and activities for you to take part in during your time at Sheffield Hallam University. You will meet new people, experience different cultures and develop your personal and professional skills.

  • Conversation Club (runs fortnightly during term-time)

  • ICE Club (recruiting in October and March)

ICE (International Career Enhancement) Club offers part-time work and skills development sessions called ICE Club Xtra. You will gain work experience and employability skills that will enhance you CV and make you stand out to employers. Opportunities are advised on the SHU GoGlobal blog.

  • Culture Connect (start dates in October and January)

Culture Connect is Sheffield Hallam's biggest transition mentoring scheme, helping new students to settle into life in Sheffield and at university by matching them with a more experienced student. This is a great way to become culturally aware, meet people from around the world and contribute to the university community. Find out more.

  • GoGlobal on campus

Get involved in our great calendar of trips and activities, which is a fantastic chance to meet students from around the world and experience different cultures, right here on campus. There's lots to see and do, as we also have a packed programme of events over the Christmas and Easter period, including day trips to various cities and local attractions.
