Who is eligible to apply?
Level 5 students undertaking a full time undergraduate degree in Sheffield Business School are eligible to apply for this opportunity. We will pre-select students in line with to the GoGlobal Fund priority groups.
In addition we will:
- Prioritise Level 5 students who will not be undertaking an international experience as part of their degree
- Aim for balanced participation across courses within the Business School.
If further selection is required, the pre-selected students will be asked to submit a 3-minute video* outlining:
- What you can bring to the trip and your fellow students
- What you will gain from the trip and your fellow students
* Should you have a specific physical, learning or mental health difficulty that prevents you from recording a video, we will put an alternative process in place for you.
Travel and accommodation
The trip will be organised by the college.
You will stay in student accommodation paid for and provided by Botswana Accountancy College. This could be in shared rooms (2 persons in bunk beds) in flats of 8 students. This may vary depending upon availability and group composition.
Visa & vaccinations
Students must meet the Botswana immigration requirements. Botswana tourist visa is not required for citizens of United Kingdom for a stay up to 90 days. If you are not a UK citizen you may require a visa. Please check with the Botswana Embassy in London.
Your passport must be valid up until 31st December 2020 and have blank visa pages.
Our flight is via a country that has Yellow Fever. We require all students to obtain a Yellow Fever Certificate for the trip in case we are delayed in transit as Botswana has some very strict Yellow Fever entry requirements.
You are required to individually call or register with the SHU health clinic (you need to register if you have not registered beforehand) to organise appropriate immunisation for your trip. To contact student health use this link: studenthealthatshu.co.uk/contact1.aspx
Estimated total cost of trip per student
Estimated total cost - £1,200
GoGlobal Fund - £750
Student contribution - £450 paid in advance and approximately £200 (minimum) spending money during the trip.
Students winning a place on the trip will be notified by Friday 14th February 2020. If an offer of a place is not accepted by 5pm on Monday 17th February 2020 we reserve the right to re-allocate the place to someone on the waiting list.
We do this as the full student contribution is due on Friday 28th February 2020 and we want to give all students participating on the trip as much notice as possible so that they can arrange payment.
Please note that you may need to cover some additional costs for vaccinations (this depends on your health record and vaccination history), additionally you may have to pay for transit or entry visas depending upon your nationality.
Should you cancel your participation in this trip, where we cannot secure a replacement, you will be required to pay the full cost of the trip. If we secure a replacement you will be required to pay for the administration charges related to changing flight details.
