Get Active Week

Take the first steps towards a healthier lifestyle with our free sport and fitness sessions across campus and halls from 22-26 January 2018.

Free social sport and fitness classes

Simply turn up to one of our social sport sessions or book onto a fitness classes for free throughout the week.

15–21 January, 11am–2pm, Owen main entrance, City Campus
15 –24 January, 11am–2pm, Heart of the Campus, Collegiate Campus
22 and 23 January, 10am-4pm, Robert Winston Building, Collegiate Campus
23 January, 10am-4pm, Cantor atrium, City Campus
25 and 26 January, 10am-4pm, Charles Street, City Campus

Win prizes every day when you visit one of our stalls. Staff will be on hand to answer questions and give out information about sport and fitness opportunities available at Sheffield Hallam.

Course challenge, how active can you and your coursemates be

Compete against students across the university to be the most active course by attending as many social sports as possible. Sign up here.

  • Beginners cycling session

    Wednesday 24 January, 1-4pm, Endcliffe Park
    British Cycling will be bringing along a van full of bikes to Endcliffe Park for people to use, and will be giving people FREE cycling lessons and tips on riding confidently.

  • Table tennis tournament

    Wednesday 24 January, 6–9pm, The HUBs Sheffield Hallam Students' Union
    The £1.50 entry fee will be donated to Student Minds, the tournament is open to all abilities and all equipment and refreshments are provided.

    1st prize - Hallam Active Gym membership
    2nd prize - £20 Sports Direct gift card
    3rd prize - £10 Sports Direct gift card

  • Halls personal training – we'll get there together

    We're bringing our personal trainers to you throughout Get Active Week, giving you a chance to try out a PT session in 30 or 60 minutes blocks.

    Take a PT session to give you the knowledge, skills and belief to achieve your post-Christmas fitness goals. Our Hallam Active personal trainers are friendly, approachable, highly qualified, and will go the extra mile to help you achieve your goals this January.

    Each 30 minutes session is £10 and can be attended to by up to two people.

    The session includes;

    • completion of the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q)
    • a brief talk on fitness, etiquette and health and safety
    • a lifestyle discussion and design of personalised programme to meet goals and fitness-related targets
    • a full demonstration of equipment/exercise
    • one-to-one personal training session, content as agreed between you and your trainer.

    Bookings can be made by calling through to 0114 225 3000 stating your halls of residence, dates and time of participation and the number of participants. Each participant must complete a health and safety PAR-Q prior to exercise.

  • Sheffield Hallam Active Gym

    Our affordable and flexible memberships include access to our fitness suites and classes, free personal training and social sport sessions. We also offer pay as you go options. In January get seven months Hallam Active gym membership for just £77.

  • Join a sports club or society

    Join 38 clubs spanning a variety of sports including Football, Basketball, Korfball, Snowsports and Climbing. Get behind Team Hallam, join in and stay active while making friends and having fun. For a full list of sports please visit www.teamhallam.org/clubs.
