Everyone starts uni a bit nervous about making friends. But everyone’s in the same boat, so throw yourself into university life, and you’ll soon find like-minded people - and make friends for life.
Here are five ways to make friends when you start uni.
1. Join a society
Joining a society is the perfect way to meet people with the same interests as you- or to try something completely new. And if you can't find the one you want, we'll help you start your own.
2. Play sport
Taking part in sport is one of the best ways to build friendships and try something new. We have sports and fitness options for absolutely everyone (even if you hated PE at school).
3. Make the most of Freshers’ Week
In your first week, everyone’s in the same boat. Push yourself to talk to as many people as possible, be true to yourself, and enjoy the experience.
4. Explore Sheffield
With your new mates in tow, lose yourself in all Sheffield has to offer. Sample independent shops, taste the local craft beer, and find out for yourself why more students choose to stay in Sheffield than any other city in the UK.

5. Be in the know
