We have sports and fitness options for absolutely everyone (even if you hated PE at school). Pick your level and we’ll help you push yourself as hard as you want to.

  • 1. Just for fun

    Social sports sessions

    It’s not all about winning. We run over 30 social sport sessions a week, in over 20 sports. All your equipment is provided for a small cost. Don’t worry about knowing the rules or having the kit – we run special Try It Out sessions if you’re not sure or you haven’t played before.

    Gyms and fitness classes

    Join Sheffield Hallam Active and you’ll have access to both of our gyms, your own personal trainer, and over 40 fitness classes a week in everything from Abtastic to yoga. If you’re not a member you can still attend classes for a small fee.

  • 2. Join the team

    Team Hallam

    With over 40 sports clubs – most with first, second and third teams – there are plenty of opportunities to compete for Team Hallam.

    Varsity

    The annual Varsity competition between Team Hallam and the University of Sheffield is one of the biggest sporting events in the city. Whether you’re playing for the team or cheering them on, you’ll experience the excitement and team spirit that makes being a Hallam student special.

    If you compete at the highest level, our Performance Athlete Support Programme helps you balance your studies with achieving your sporting potential, giving you financial support and the time you need to train alongside your work.
