Care Leaver Bursary 2018/19 (£9,000 fee cohort)
If you're leaving care, we guarantee to provide you with a bursary package of £1,500 a year.
Are you eligible for the bursary?
To receive the bursary you must
- be an undergraduate UK or 'home' fee status student on a full-time or sandwich course, paying the full tuition fee either yourself or by a sponsor (such as the NHS for some health courses)
- have spent three or more months in care while at school, from Year 10 onwards
- be 25 or under when you start your course
- be eligible for the relevant maximum level of statutory funding or NHS bursary
How much will you receive?
You'll get £1,500 for every academic year where you pay full tuition fees.
This is on top of your normal undergraduate student funding package from Student Finance England or the NHS.
How can you apply?
You don’t need to contact us. If you tick the box on UCAS to indicate you are a care leaver, we will contact you to confirm your eligibility for the bursary.
When will you get paid?
If you're eligible, you'll receive your bursary in January 2019 at the earliest. It will be paid directly into your bank or building society account in one installment.
If you think you should have been awarded a Care Leaver Bursary, but we've not contacted you by March 2019, contact Student Help on 0114 225 3813 or email@example.com so that we can investigate.
Please note this Scholarship is subject to the Bursary Guidelines.
