Estates Services
Estates have the responsibility for providing and maintaining the University's physical environment.
Our property portfolio ranges from Grade II listed buildings built in the 1850s at our Collegiate Campus to the ultra modern Furnival Building at our City Campus, and over the last ten years in excess of £80 million has been invested in the estate both in new buildings and refurbishment.
We use numerous local architects, engineers and specialist contractors to help us to provide the environment the University needs. We outsource all project construction work and over 70 per cent of all our maintenance requirements to specialist companies where we obtain the best value possible through competitive tendering. All our projects are managed in-house by a small team of experienced project managers, surveyors and engineers.
Our small in-house team of skilled trades and technicians ensure we can respond to breakdowns with speed, efficiency and expertise thus keeping the university's core business 'downtime' to a minimum.
The University is also an important partner in the city and when planning our estates activity we work closely with strategic partners in the city, such as the City Council, the Cultural Industries Agency and Creative Sheffield as well as private investors.
