Facilities management

We provide support to all University-owned buildings and we're responsible for

  • cleaning teaching areas, offices, toilets and other public areas
  • grounds maintenance – including gritting and snow clearance
  • security across the University estate
  • domestic, portering and goods services
  • the central archive
  • transport and mailroom services
  • the removal of site and confidential waste
  • setting-up and rearranging rooms
  • the movement of food and beverages (in support of Catering Services)
  • customer services (see below)

Customer services

The Customer Services team is responsible for

  • the Facilities Directorate Helpdesk – providing a single point of contact between the customer and Facilities Directorate service providers
  • managing reception desks at City and Collegiate Campuses, the Oneleven Building, 20 Furnival Street and Aspect Court
  • the production of all SHUcards


The SHUcard is your

  • University membership and ID card
  • learning centre membership card
  • access control card (where appropriate)
