GoGlobal Fund for Virtual Mobility is now closed for applications

The GoGlobal Fund encourages students to broaden their horizons and enhance their skills and future employability by undertaking an international experience while studying at Sheffield Hallam University. The GoGlobal Fund is currently accepting applications for participation in online learning activities and virtual mobility.

Students can receive up to £100 to support their participation.

  • Who is eligible to apply?

    You are eligible to apply for GoGlobal funding for Virtual Mobility if all of the following statements apply to you:

    • You are undertaking full or part-time study at Sheffield Hallam University during the 2020/21 academic year
    • You are enrolled on an undergraduate or postgraduate taught course*
    • You have not already received GoGlobal funding in the 2020/21 academic year

    *Postgraduate Research students, Distance Learning students, and Foundation Year students are not eligible to apply for the GoGlobal Fund for Virtual Mobility. Students studying a SHU programme delivered at a partner institution are also ineligible to apply. 

  • What activities are eligible in 2020/21?

    Due to COVID-19 and the suspension of staff and student travel, the GoGlobal Fund has been unable to support any physical mobility this academic year.

    However, the GoGlobal Fund can now accept applications for participation in online activities such as: online projects and extra-curricular courses; virtual mobility and summer schools; virtual internships and work experience etc.

  • How do I apply?

    If you are interested in applying for GoGlobal funding to support your participation in online / virtual mobility, please complete the application form.

    • The deadline for submitting applications is Friday 14 May 2021 at 5pm.
    • A University panel will be convened to consider all applications for GoGlobal Funding for Virtual Mobility, week commencing 17 May 2021.
    • You will be informed if your application has been successful, by the 28 May 2021.
    • If your application is successful we expect to make a payment to you around the middle of June 2021.

    Please note, there are limited funds available. To avoid disappointment we advise you apply early.

  • Terms and conditions of the GoGlobal Fund for Virtual Mobility 2020/21

    • Any activity funded by the GoGlobal Fund for Virtual Mobility must be completed on or before 20 September 2021.
    • Retrospective applications will not be accepted, you cannot apply if you have already taken part in the activity.
    • You will be required to report back about your experience, you will be given guidance on the format of the expected feedback.
    • You must keep any receipts associated with your online activity, the university reserves the right to request evidence that you have used the award as intended. If you fail to produce such evidence, you may be required to repay the funding awarded to you.
    • Any unused funding must be repaid to the University.
    • This fund is subject to the Sheffield Hallam University Bursary Guidelines.
    • All applications will be considered but there is no guarantee that your application will be successful.
