Erasmus logo

We have exchange agreements with over 100 institutions across the world so there has never been a better time to participate in an exchange.

When you graduate after taking part in an exchange you'll have experience of living and studying in a country outside the UK during which time you will have acquired many of the skills and abilities prized by graduate employers.

Living in another country you will soak up the culture, learn the language, make great friends and be left with memories to last a lifetime.

You will also benefit from

  • Studying your subject from a different perspective
  • Giving yourself a competitive advantage
  • Gaining invaluable experience and improve your CV
  • Many courses with our partners in Europe are taught in English
  • Making new friends and new career connections
  • Gaining confidence and experience life in another country and culture
  • Being more independent and resourceful
  • Developing your subject knowledge and try new learning techniques in another University
  • Funding - If you go to an EU country the Erasmus+ grant can help with the cost of study or work abroad
  • Improving your language skills by using another language every day

Many students say it's the most fun, exciting, challenging and life-changing experience of their student life! A useful resource if you are considering studying or working abroad as part of a degree is the Erasmus+ site which has lots of useful information on this topic, as well as links to other useful websites in this field.

Previous exchange students

I have become a much more open minded person willing to take more risks. The biggest benefit of the exchange is meeting people – Swedish, European and international students.

Nathan Bouchet, BA (Hons) History, studied at Linköpings Universitet in Sweden

Erasmus is an experience I will never forget. The people I met, the friends I made and the diplomats I worked alongside all meant this seven month exchange was a phenomenal experience.

Mitesh Mistry, BA Hons Politics, studied for seven months at the Hague University in the Netherlands

In my opinion, there is no better way than the Erasmus exchange to learn about different cultures and languages. The exchange is a great way to make one's CV more attractive to prospective employers and to stand out from the crowd.

Rochelle MacKenzie-McQueen, LLB Maîtrise en Droit Français, studied for seven months at Université de Paris-Est Créteil, France
