Our researchers have developed virtual reality software with the potential to improve the way the NHS trains patients to use prosthetic limbs forever.
Modern electric prosthetic limbs are very expensive. Patients are given hours of training before they get them, but it can be difficult to take to a prosthetic and many go unused.
Virtual reality offers patients an opportunity to 'see' the limb and adjust to using it. The technology makes it more likely that patients would take to their bionic prosthetics – which brings life-changing benefits to amputees.
